While he’s always loved telling stories, Aaron C. Wong took the long way round to screenwriting and directing –
Growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, it was summers in South Bend, Indiana where his grandparents first rented him a video camera and instilled a love of the medium.
He pursued a BFA in British Literature from UCLA and an MFA in Film and Television Production from Savannah College of Art and Design. This led to a variety of experiences: reading scripts in LA, teaching 8th grade in Mississippi, working for ABC News in NYC, building fences in Kentucky, shooting features in Ghana, and co-owning a successful commercial and stock video production company.
At the age of 35 decided to dedicate himself to writing and directing, obtaining his professional certification in screenwriting from UCLA. He continues to meet with several of his colleagues from the program as he develops his writings.
Most recently his screenplay A Violent Noise moved to the 2nd Round at the 2018 Austin Film Festival screenplay competition. He is also developing a couple short films, with plans to have them in festivals in 2019.
Aaron C. Wong currently lives in Portland, Oregon where he enjoys hiking, surfing, playing music, practicing Jeet Kune Do, working with spindles, and developing apps.
